Hertz (NASDAQ: HTZ), a leading global vehicle rental company, has deployed Getac’s rugged UX10 tablets and software at select locations to optimize the vehicle handover experience at airports.

Airport Optimization.

The integration of this technology has eliminated manual processes, enabling agents to serve more customers in less time during peak demand periods.

To meet operational requirements, Getac customized the UX10 with a camera for damage documentation, a barcode scanner for quick access to reservation data, and VIN number capture for each vehicle.

Furthermore, the tablets are certified to withstand extreme temperatures and humidity, recognizing that not all return locations are indoors.

The solution also includes Getac’s Device Monitoring System, providing Hertz with real-time visibility into the status of each tablet, identifying which units are operational and which have faults, thereby minimizing downtime risks.

The built-in virtual GPS allows instant tracking of device location and condition, preventing unnecessary purchases and saving both time and money.

Efficient Management and Monitoring.

Additionally, this technology supports efficient digital tracking through the Vehicle Information Reporting System (VIRS), facilitating damage assessment and real-time vehicle inventory management.

This platform seamlessly integrates with Hertz’s existing systems, allowing maintenance teams to monitor the condition of each unit.

The reduction of manual workflows and increased device availability contribute to a more agile operation with lower support costs.

Regarding this, Rick Geisendorff, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Getac North America, states:

“Our tailored hardware and software solutions enable companies like Hertz to significantly enhance operational efficiency and elevate customer service levels in competitive environments. By leveraging advanced technology, we empower people to perform their jobs more effectively while improving the customer experience.”

Advanced Technological Adaptation.

As Hertz’s operational needs evolved beyond instant vehicle return processing, Getac adapted its solutions to include compatibility with the VIRS digital system.

This encompasses damage evaluations, inventory management, and additional vehicle data such as maintenance alerts and recall notifications.
