Rising energy costs and pressure on operational continuity are accelerating the adoption of industrial automation and digital technologies across electricity-intensive sectors. According to Schneider Electric, the convergence of digital technologies and electrical systems can reduce energy consumption in industrial plants by 20% to 50%.

The company also warned that up to 30% of the energy consumed in industrial environments is typically wasted due to lack of operational visibility, reactive maintenance and disconnected operations.
Schneider Electric said the integration of digital tools makes it possible to detect these inefficiencies more quickly and avoid higher operating costs and emissions. Schneider Electric said technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), real-time monitoring and industrial automation platforms are enabling companies to predict failures, reduce disruptions and strengthen operational resilience.
Automation and monitoring.
The adoption of digital twins and predictive analytics systems is also helping extend the lifespan of industrial assets and speed up returns on investment.

According to the company, sectors such as manufacturing, food and beverages, sustainable mining, critical infrastructure and energy are facing growing challenges in sustaining operations with competitive energy costs.

In this context, Schneider Electric argues that industrial digitalization is becoming a strategic enabler for responding to energy volatility and strengthening operational resilience.
This process, called Electricity 4.0, seeks to integrate energy, processes and data to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and advance decarbonization goals without compromising productivity and growth.
