Simetrik selected in Mastercard Start Path

Financial operations automation is advancing with the use of artificial intelligence in payment ecosystems.
Simetrik was selected in Mastercard Start Path to bring automated reconciliation to global networks.
Simetrik was selected in Mastercard Start Path, Mastercard’s global startup program, in a context where financial automation is gaining relevance in payment ecosystems.
The company joins the Corporate Solutions track of the program to bring automated reconciliation and financial controls to issuers, acquirers, and fintechs.
The selection recognizes Simetrik’s approach to closing the gap between payments and accounting, enabling visibility and traceability over transactions. This implies access to Mastercard’s global network, strategic mentorship, and co-innovation opportunities for product development and commercial growth.
Automation in the back office.
In this context, the company’s proposal is focused on addressing operational challenges in the financial back office, where manual processes continue to predominate in financial institutions and payment processors.
Santiago Gómez, co-founder and COO of Simetrik, shares details:
”Digital payments scaled fast. The back office did not. Finance teams at the world’s largest banks and payment processors are still reconciling manually, chasing exceptions, and building controls they should never have had to build themselves. Simetrik exists to close that gap. Our vision is to be the AI-native platform for global financial operations, giving every participant in the payments chain, from fintechs and banks to acquirers and issuers, full confidence in every transaction, from end to end”.
Operational implications.
For financial institutions, payment providers, and fintechs, the selection in the program has implications related to the implementation of automated workflows, validation of governance and security standards, integration with existing infrastructures, and access to Mastercard’s ecosystem of clients and partners.
In practice, this translates into the ability to deploy transactional controls in weeks, align with regulatory and audit standards, integrate the platform without additional development, and access collaboration opportunities in issuing, acquiring, and international payment operations.
Fintech context in Colombia.
In Colombia, the context of technological adoption in the financial sector shows sustained expansion. According to the Finnovista Fintech Radar Colombia 2025, the average revenues of fintechs tripled over the past four years and could double again before 2027, partly driven by the adoption of artificial intelligence, which has enabled reductions in operational costs.
This growth in the financial sector coexists with persistent manual processes, especially in reconciliation, which generates inefficiencies in operations.
Simetrik indicated that its platform currently processes 2.5 billion records daily and reconciles more than US$500 billion annually in transactions across more than 50 countries.
The integration into Mastercard Start Path is framed within the adoption of AI for financial operations, in a context of increasing complexity in the payments industry.
