Oracle expands program to train AI talent across Latin America

With a practical approach and access to technologies such as OCI and Java, the program is driving the development of digital talent in a region where more than 70% of companies have already adopted AI.

Is Colombia ready for its digital talent to move from learning to leading the era of Artificial Intelligence?

A new program aims to connect developers, students, and professionals with the technologies shaping the future of work.

In an environment where technology advancement is outpacing talent development, thousands of developers in Colombia are now seeking to become true protagonists of digital transformation, rather than mere observers. This marks the starting point of a new regional initiative.

Oracle introduced the Oracle Innovators Club during its Data Deep Dive event, an initiative designed to strengthen skills in Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, and automation, while connecting professionals and students with hands-on experiences linked to the tech industry.

Learning ecosystem.

Rather than a traditional training space, the program is structured as a collaborative ecosystem where participants work as a community, build real solutions, and gain access to technologies used in enterprise environments.
The proposal aims to reduce the gap between academia and the current needs of the labor market.

The initiative already brings together more than 55 communities across Latin America, with activities including technical meetups, workshops, and hands-on sessions. Available tools include Java, MySQL, Linux, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), and Oracle Database.

Talent shortage.

The context in Colombia reinforces the relevance of these types of programs. The rapid advance of digitalization and the adoption of data-driven technologies have intensified the demand for specialized profiles, while the supply of talent is not growing at the same pace.

In this scenario, Polkan García, Cloud Director for Oracle Latin America, outlined a perspective on the role of talent in the AI era:

”In the era of Artificial Intelligence, our principle at Oracle is clear: the greater the power of AI, the greater the responsibility of engineering. Today, the limit is no longer the ability to write code, but the vision to design correct systems. AI allows us to generate functions in minutes, but that also means we can scale structural errors at an unprecedented speed.”

García added:

”We are not only looking for talent that learns to generate code, but for talent that learns to think like architects: to define clear data models, to validate rigorously, and to prioritize scalability over immediate output. AI removes the effort of writing, but not the need to think,” he concluded. “Those who do not make this transition will only amplify chaos; those who do will be the ones who truly transform Colombia.”

The outlook becomes even more challenging considering that, according to EY, more than 70% of companies in Colombia are already integrating Artificial Intelligence into their core processes. At the same time, studies by MinTIC and Fedesoft estimate a shortage of 85,000 IT professionals by 2030, highlighting growing pressure on the education and labor ecosystems.

World Cup simulation 2026.

The event’s Developer Room hosted the Fantasy Game, an immersive experience where developers applied AI and data analytics in a simulated 2026 FIFA World Cup scenario.

The activity was structured around three pillars: organizing large volumes of data for use by AI systems; interacting with information through natural language to simulate real-time scenarios; and building intelligent assistants capable of turning statistics into predictions about tournament outcomes.

According to Oscar Narváez, AI Director at Oracle Colombia:

”The Fantasy Game is the ultimate proof of our thesis: data generates true value. With the right tools, a developer can move from managing data chaos to building intelligent systems that predict the future of any industry, including sports—the one that will capture the world’s attention during the World Cup.”
