Oracle and AWS expand AI access to enterprise data

The expanded service connects Oracle databases with AWS AI and analytics tools, allowing companies to modernize critical workloads without redesigning their existing architectures.

 


The growing adoption of artificial intelligence by businesses is prompting Oracle and AWS to expand their partnership to facilitate the migration of databases and critical workloads to the cloud.

Oracle AI Database@AWS is now available in 22 AWS regions and adds new capabilities designed to allow businesses to use AI and analytics on their data without having to move or duplicate it.


Businesses are moving critical workloads to cloud environments where they can combine their enterprise data with artificial intelligence without having to move or duplicate it. Against this backdrop, the Oracle and AWS service has expanded its availability to 22 AWS regions and added new capabilities to connect Oracle databases with AI and analytics services.

The two companies have expanded their collaboration agreement to accelerate customer migration to this environment, which is already being used by companies across industries to run critical workloads.

In parallel, Oracle announced the general availability of Exadata Database Service on Exascale Infrastructure, extending Exadata performance and its pay-as-you-go model to workloads of different scales.

This infrastructure allows organizations to define the required compute and storage capacity and distribute databases across shared storage servers. The model is designed for workloads ranging from smaller databases to multi-region deployments for high availability and disaster recovery.

It also incorporates an instant cloning feature to create copies for development and testing without duplicating storage.

AI moves closer to enterprise data.

The offering allows organizations to incorporate generative and agentic AI capabilities directly into enterprise data, without having to move or duplicate the information. It also incorporates Oracle AI Vector Search, which enables information retrieval based on meaning and context.

The approach allows organizations to connect their data with AI and analytics tools from AWS without having to completely modify the architectures on which their applications operate.

New capabilities for organizations.

Over the past year, Oracle and AWS have introduced new capabilities to simplify deployments, scale workloads and connect them with AI and analytics services.

These include Oracle Autonomous AI Database Serverless, now generally available for creating and running managed databases without the need to provision or manage infrastructure.

The service also achieves round-trip latency of as low as 165 microseconds between the application and database, a feature designed for latency-sensitive workloads, including OLTP systems, ERP applications and AI-enabled operational applications.

The integration includes AWS services such as Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Quick and Amazon SageMaker, as well as Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon EventBridge. This allows data workloads to connect with tools for analytics, backup, monitoring and application development.

Companies are already running critical workloads.

Companies across industries, including financial services and transportation, are already using the infrastructure to migrate critical workloads and apply artificial intelligence to the data supporting their operations.

Among them is CJ Olive Young, a South Korean beauty and wellness retailer with more than 1,380 stores, which uses the service to migrate its primary workloads to the cloud, integrate information between Oracle and AWS and advance its use of AI.

Kobalt Music Group uses the infrastructure to support its digital royalty collection platform, which processes music consumption data and distributes royalties to songwriters, publishers and rights holders. The company uses a configuration that allows it to handle the transaction and payment volume of its operations.

In the public sector, the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority uses the technology to support mobility services and operational efficiency. The organization coordinates the region’s integrated public transportation network, which records 1.2 billion ticket validations per year.

As part of the long-term agreement, the two companies will continue working on migration and adoption of the joint infrastructure. The aim is to make it easier for organizations to run their Oracle workloads alongside the AWS AI and analytics services they already use.

The process also involves systems integrators and technology providers. Some partners can resell the service or manage it for their customers, while Oracle Migration Accelerator helps fund migration services and offset part of those costs.
