TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing extend partnership into GEN4 era

The renewed collaboration will apply AI and digital technologies to racing operations, engineering and the development of next-generation electric vehicles.

The transition to the GEN4 era will expand the use of AI and digital technologies in racing operations and electric vehicle development.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Jaguar TCS Racing have extended their partnership for Formula E’s GEN4 era through a multi-year agreement that makes the technology company the team’s official artificial intelligence partner.

The agreement will explore artificial intelligence applications to generate efficiencies in racing operations and engineering, as well as provide insights for the development of next-generation Jaguar electric vehicles.

The renewal follows five years of collaboration, during which Jaguar TCS Racing won the 2024 and 2026 ABB FIA Formula E World Team Championships. During the GEN3 Evo era, the team also recorded more wins and podium finishes than any other team, according to the statement.

AI and simulation expand the scope of the partnership.

Over the past five years, TCS and Jaguar TCS Racing have used cloud and digital twins to improve racing performance and advance track-to-road electrification.

At the center of the collaboration is TCS’s Virtual Vehicle Validation Model (V3M), which enables Jaguar TCS Racing engineers to validate software changes, run continuous simulations and make decisions within the championship’s time constraints.

Abhinav Kumar, Global Chief Marketing Officer at TCS: “This partnership demonstrates what is possible when world-class teams come together with a shared ambition to innovate. At the close of a great season, culminating in the World Team Championship, we are pleased to extend our collaboration and build on this momentum as Formula E enters the GEN4 era. With this renewal, we will continue to leverage AI and advanced technologies to identify new performance opportunities that help Jaguar TCS Racing compete for more podiums and championships.”

The expanded partnership also maintains activities linked to training and sustainability, using Formula E as a practical platform to introduce future engineers and data scientists to applications related to racing.

Chris Thorp, Chairman of JLR Motorsport, the organisation that operates Jaguar TCS Racing: “Our partnership with TCS has been fundamental in helping Jaguar TCS Racing push the boundaries of performance, efficiency and innovation. As the championship enters the GEN4 era, this collaboration helps us drive the future of all-electric motorsport while also providing learnings for the next generation of Jaguar vehicles. The extension of our partnership with TCS builds on proven results, shared values and a clear vision of how data and AI can elevate performance in motorsport.”

The collaboration also extends to training and talent.

Through the Ignite My Future (IMF) initiative, since 2023 nearly 30,000 students from 16 countries have explored applications of data, design and race strategy through tailored curricula and content linked to the team.

Hundreds of students have also taken part in trackside experiences during E-Prix events held around the world.

The expanded partnership combines AI and digital technologies with applications for racing and electric vehicle development, while maintaining training initiatives associated with Formula E.

TCS maintains its commitment to the UK.

The partnership also forms part of TCS’s presence in the UK, where the company says it works with more than 200 brands and has a 50-year presence. Earlier this year, it confirmed plans to create 5,000 jobs in the country over the next three years.
