Ventures EPM aims to strengthen its portfolio of solutions by supporting entrepreneurs who, through their agility, disruptive focus, and ability to scale technological solutions, are key to addressing issues such as the energy transition, circular economy, sustainable territories, and business optimization.
The Ventures EPM program will provide capital for Batx’s growth and expects to co-create new offerings related to sustainable mobility.
This is explained by Alejandro José Jaramillo Arango, Executive Vice President of New Business, Innovation, and Technology at EPM:
“This investment, aligned with our strategy of circular economy and growth in new businesses, will allow Batx to strengthen its battery diagnostic and processing capabilities, enabling them to re-enter the market for use in backup solutions for commerce and industry, or even for homes as a complement to solar systems.”
Company’s Objective.
Highlighting its collaboration with Ventures EPM, Alejandro Camargo, CEO of Batx, explained that:
“The company’s goal is to extend the life of batteries and minimize waste through the reuse of those that come from electric mobility for stationary energy storage systems. A process that we designed while we were still in university and that today makes Batx the only company in Colombia and Latin America to undertake this type of circular economy initiative.”
Strategic Investments.
Since 2013, EPM has supported 30 companies through the Ventures program via the Private Equity Fund I (now liquidated) and the Private Equity Fund II (active until 2031).
With the Fund, EPM continues to invest in this innovation mechanism within public services and enhancing competitiveness, by having “immediate” presence with cutting-edge solutions within the defined roadmaps for energy transition, circular economy, and sustainable territories.
These investments are made in companies with differentiating proposals aligned with EPM’s strategic focus areas.
The collaborations have generated returns exceeding 740 billion pesos in revenue and savings, as well as transferring technical knowledge to EPM employees.
In 2025, EPM added 200 billion pesos to the Private Equity Fund II, bringing the total, alongside its fund management partner Axon Partners, to 558 billion pesos to continue supporting the companies within the fund.
