Hitachi Vantara’s 2024 Sustainability Report highlights its accelerated progress toward achieving carbon neutrality. The company reports measurable improvements in energy efficiency and carbon emission reductions, reaffirming its goal to become carbon neutral by 2050.
Hitachi Vantara has published its 2024 fiscal year Sustainability Report. This second annual edition showcases the company’s advancements in environmental responsibility, transparency, and adherence to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria.
Key Achievements of the Report.
The report highlights significant progress in:
Creating energy-efficient infrastructures
Reducing carbon emissions
Implementing responsible business practices
One of the standout accomplishments was earning Energy Star® certification for several storage solutions.
Hitachi Vantara also addressed the management of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and introduced new sustainability tools to help organizations optimize energy use and monitor carbon output.

Carbon Neutrality Commitments.
Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions: Targeted carbon neutrality by fiscal year 2030
Full supply chain: Targeted carbon neutrality by fiscal year 2050
Energy Star Certification.
Several storage solutions received Energy Star recognition. Notably, the Virtual Storage Platform One Block (VSP One Block) was named the most energy-efficient model in the ENERGY STAR NVSS Disk Online 4 category.
Use of Recycled Materials.
Currently, 40% of the materials used in VSP One Block and Archive Block storage frames are made from recycled plastics.
These materials comply with safety standards and help reduce fire-related risks.
The company plans to raise this figure to 50% by fiscal year 2030 by expanding the use of recycled plastics and incorporating biomass-based components.
New Sustainability Guarantee.
As part of its ongoing efforts, Hitachi Vantara introduced a Sustainability Guarantee for its VSP One storage platform.
