AI transforms entertainment: what risks lie ahead?

Is Artificial Intelligence transforming entertainment or putting what we love most at risk?
AI is not only revolutionizing how we watch movies or play video games; it is also redefining the digital risks facing the entertainment industry. From concert tickets to visual effects and video games, experts warn that the technology can open the door to fraud, leaks, and cyberattacks.
A new section of the Kaspersky Security Bulletin highlights that Artificial Intelligence has become critical for the entertainment business. AI-driven systems are already transforming key processes while simultaneously expanding the attack surface available to cybercriminals.
This is emphasized by María Isabel Manjarrez, a researcher on Kaspersky’s Global Research and Analysis Team:
“Artificial Intelligence has become a common factor in many emerging risks within the digital environment. It not only enhances the ability of security teams to detect anomalies more quickly, but it is also being used to analyze infrastructures, anticipate behaviors, and generate increasingly convincing malicious content. That is why studios, platforms, and rights holders must consider AI systems and the data that feed them as part of their critical attack surface, and not solely as creative tools.”
Five Key Threats.
Researchers have identified five primary threats:
Dynamic pricing and bots: AI enables instant adjustment of ticket prices, which enhances the ability of resellers to deploy bots and modify resale prices even when artists maintain fixed rates.
Risks in visual effects: Reliance on external cloud platforms for visual effects increases studios’ vulnerabilities, making it easier for attackers to access scenes or episodes before their release.
Content distribution networks: With AI, cybercriminals can identify sensitive content and detect weak access points, potentially affecting multiple titles or injecting malicious code into legitimate broadcasts.
Misuse in games: Some users may exploit AI tools to generate inappropriate content or inadvertently introduce personal data into games, mods, or videos.
Regulatory requirements for AI: New regulations will demand greater transparency in AI usage and in the licensing of models trained with protected works, requiring companies to establish new roles and internal processes to oversee compliance.
Security Recommendations.
To mitigate these risks, Kaspersky recommends:
Mapping AI usage across the entire value chain, from ticket sales to fan platform interactions, and incorporating it explicitly into risk models.
Continuously training employees in cybersecurity, with clear access controls based on roles and operational needs.
Reviewing the architecture of content distribution networks and implementing anomaly detection systems, even with trusted providers.
Subjecting generative AI used in games, marketing, and communities to dedicated security and privacy reviews, with clear policies on training data and permissible content generation.
The warning is clear: while Artificial Intelligence drives innovation and enhances creative processes, it also requires the entertainment industry to take responsibility for the emerging digital risks.
