The implementation of artificial intelligencehas become a strategic priority for business leaders worldwide. This is evidenced by the “Navigating the Digital Shift” report from IDC, supported by Endava, which reveals that 60% of CEOs globally prioritize the adoption of generative AI as a fundamental part of their digital roadmap for the coming years.
Growing Adoption in Colombia
In Colombia, this trend is already taking shape. According to the study “AI in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises: Trends, Challenges, and Opportunities” conducted by Microsoft, 66% of MSMEs in the country are already employing artificial intelligence.
This figure rises to 86% in the case of native digital companies. Additionally, 67% have invested, plan to invest, or will continue to invest in AI-based technological solutions.
Elena Plop, Country Manager of Endava in the country, comments:
“Generative AI is not a passing trend, but a powerful tool that is transforming how companies design products, provide services, and make decisions. The challenge for Colombian companies is how to accelerate its adoption in a strategic, ethical, and sustainable manner.”
Global Digital Transformation
IDC’s report also indicates that one in two companies worldwide already considers itself a digital business. It is estimated that 49% of their revenue in five years will come from digital products or services.
This evolution entails the need to modernize technological infrastructure, improve access to quality data, and address the shortage of specialized talent.
According to Fedesoft data, the main barriers to adopting generative AI in Colombia are the lack of subject matter experts, concerns related to privacy and security, and the challenges of integrating this technology with existing systems.
Human talent remains a decisive factor. The shortage of specialized professionals is one of the biggest challenges, making investments in training or staff development a significant competitive advantage.
The executive adds:
“At Endava, we have been forging partnerships with the major AI players worldwide and adopting an approach focused on training our employees as a key part of our own digital transformation. At the same time, we are increasingly establishing ourselves as technological partners for our clients on this journey.”
Positive Business Perception
Microsoft’s study highlights a broadly favorable perception of AI. 72% of leaders believe the technology has a positive impact on work, and 70% think their employees also view it positively.
87% of decision-makers describe their experience with AI in positive terms, and 65% expect concrete benefits for their businesses.
Finally, Plop advises:
“The key is to see AI not just as technology, but as an enabler of organizational transformation and a lever for innovation in the country.”
