Dubai partnership explores agentic AI applications in digital commerce across Latin America

The initiative links Dubai with Latin America, the Caribbean and other international markets, drawing on networks with more than 20 years of experience to promote digital commerce and business development.

International expansion and the adoption of artificial intelligence are creating new opportunities for cooperation between companies and markets, with initiatives aimed at connecting business ecosystems across different regions.

Dubai CommerCity and Global Commerce Foundation have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote international business cooperation and explore applications of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) in digital commerce, with a particular focus on opportunities to connect Dubai, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration in cross-border digital commerce, unified commerce models and emerging technologies. Its objectives include exploring agentic AI solutions capable of automating and executing business tasks and processes with greater autonomy, with the aim of improving operational efficiency and facilitating companies’ access to new markets.

The agreement was signed at Dubai CommerCity’s headquarters during Ai Everything Abu Dhabi 2026. Dubai CommerCity is a free zone specializing in digital commerce that forms part of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ), while Global Commerce Foundation promotes cooperation among markets, companies, entrepreneurs, experts and academic institutions.

Amna Lootah, managing director of Dubai CommerCity, said the collaboration aims to translate the capabilities of these technologies into practical business applications.

“Agentic AI represents a fundamental shift in the future of digital commerce as we move from using AI as a support tool to implementing it to execute tasks and processes with greater autonomy. Through our collaboration with Global Commerce Foundation, we seek to translate these technological capabilities into practical applications that support businesses and strengthen their ability to innovate, expand and access new markets”.

Lootah added that the partnership aligns with Dubai’s strategy to strengthen its position as an international hub for trade, the digital economy and innovation, as well as the emirate’s efforts to expand the adoption of advanced technologies in the private sector.

Applications for business development

The memorandum covers applied research, proof-of-concept projects, technology demonstrations, market studies, the exchange of best practices and the development of business cases. It also includes executive education, professional training, mentoring, talent development, innovation challenges, and business incubation and acceleration initiatives.

Marcos Pueyrredon, president of Global Commerce Foundation, explained that the cooperation aims to connect research, capacity building and the practical testing of solutions in business environments. In this regard, he said:

“Our collaboration with Dubai CommerCity provides a platform to explore models that bring together research, capacity building and practical testing of solutions within an active business environment, while capturing successful approaches and sharing knowledge through our international networks”.

The initiative includes sharing experiences through networks such as eCommerce Institute, in Latin America and the Caribbean, and EICOM (European Institute for Commerce Management), in Europe. According to Pueyrredon, the partnership draws on more than 20 years of experience and established relationships to connect these ecosystems with Dubai and expand opportunities for knowledge exchange and business growth.

Connections between international markets

The partnership also aims to facilitate connections among companies, entrepreneurs, investors, professionals and academic institutions, while supporting companies seeking access to markets in Dubai, Latin America and the Caribbean.

The agreement is aligned with the objectives of Dubai’s D33 Economic Agenda, which seeks to strengthen the emirate’s role in global trade, the digital economy and innovation, expand foreign trade and harness advanced technologies to generate economic opportunities. It also aligns with the United Arab Emirates’ efforts to accelerate AI adoption and consolidate its position in this field.

Global Commerce Foundation’s initiatives span markets in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific, including the United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Spain, Turkey, China and Mexico. The collaboration with Dubai CommerCity aims to strengthen ties between these regions and develop initiatives related to digital commerce, technological innovation and business expansion.

Business agenda through 2027

As part of the planned activities, Dubai will host the global final of the Tetrix Agentic World League in 2027, organized in collaboration with Dubai CommerCity during Dubai AI Week. The event aims to bring together talent, companies, institutions and solutions from different markets to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen ties between Latin America, the Caribbean, Dubai and the global digital commerce ecosystem.
