New RTX tools boost PC gaming development

How are mods changing the way we perceive classic video games?
A new update promises to take them to an unexpected visual level.
The excitement of rediscovering well-known titles with a completely refreshed look is gaining momentum once again within the PC community. Behind this resurgence lies a new technological update that not only expands visual capabilities, but also directly addresses long-standing requests from modders themselves.
The new Advanced Particle VFX system, previously showcased during this year’s GDC, is now available and enables mod creators to develop more immersive effects. The update builds on an earlier system that introduced particle path tracing, allowing classic effects to be replaced with modern, physics-based simulations. One example of this advancement can be seen in WoodBoy’s Quake III Arena RTX demo.
Particle improvements.
The development of this enhancement was shaped by continuous feedback from the modding community. From a list of more than a dozen features requested by modders, the new version of Remix incorporates most of them. Among the most notable are dynamic particle animations, which allow effects to be modified throughout their lifecycle to achieve more detailed outcomes.
Advanced physics simulations have also been strengthened with the introduction of complex gravitational effects. This enables behaviors such as magnetic attraction or repulsion toward specific points in the environment, as well as displacement driven by directional wind. In addition, the inclusion of random effect elements opens the door to greater visual variety.
New RTX releases.
In parallel, the adoption of rendering technologies continues to expand across new titles. This week, an update for NTE (Neverness To Everness) launches in China, with a global release scheduled for next week, integrating DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Multi Frame Generation, and path tracing effects.
Other releases are also incorporating these tools. ‘83 Early Access launches with DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation and DLSS 4 Super Resolution. Users with GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs can upgrade, via the NVIDIA application, to the DLSS 4.5 update and DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. Meanwhile, Sudden Strike 5 debuts with DLSS Super Resolution and DLAA, while Atomic Heart: Blood On Crystal is already available with an upgrade option to DLSS 4.5.
On the player incentive side, to mark the launch of Marvel Rivals Season 7.5, NVIDIA app users can obtain the Thor Midgard Umber outfit through GeForce Rewards, while supplies last.

At the development level, the DLSS 4.5 SDK with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is now available, simplifying access to the latest advancements in Super Resolution and frame generation. Built on Streamline, the toolkit provides a unified integration pathway that allows developers to selectively adopt different features, such as Ray Reconstruction integration.
Among upcoming games incorporating RTX technologies, PRAGMATA™ from CAPCOM stands out. Set in a lunar research station where a hostile AI controls the environment after contact with Earth is lost, the title features path tracing effects on PC, along with optimizations powered by DLSS and NVIDIA Reflex.
Also featured is ‘83, an online tactical shooter set in a conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, aiming to balance realism and accessibility.
Meanwhile, NTE (Neverness to Everness) is an open-world online RPG developed in Unreal Engine 5, where humans coexist with supernatural anomalies in the city of Hethereau.
In addition, Atomic Heart’s DLC concludes its storyline with Blood on Crystal, maintaining support for advanced graphics acceleration technologies, while Sudden Strike 5 focuses on a strategic experience with more than 300 playable units and campaigns set during World War II.
Together, these updates across PC gaming reflect a transitional moment in the ecosystem, where both developers and modding communities are pushing visual and performance boundaries with increasingly sophisticated tools.
