Equinix launches global data center training for teens
What would happen if the first exposure to cutting-edge technology occurred at the age of 14, inside a real data center?
For hundreds of young people around the world, that experience is no longer a distant idea, but a door that is beginning to open.
There are young people today who view a data center as something distant, almost invisible, unaware that it underpins a significant portion of the digital world they interact with every day. Amid lights, servers, and global connectivity, the future of work for thousands of individuals—just beginning to consider their professional paths—is also taking shape.
In this context, Equinix, Inc. has announced new global investments focused on talent development, aimed at strengthening the training of the next generation of professionals in the data center industry.
The announcement emphasizes expanding access to technical careers, strengthening talent ecosystems in the communities where the company operates, and preparing more individuals for the rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation.
Global technological demand.
The pressure on the industry is significant. The rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is increasing demand for infrastructure and specialized technical profiles, a trend that is already reshaping priorities across the technology sector.

One of the key announcements is the global launch of Pathways to Tech, a program aimed at students aged 14 to 18 that seeks to open inclusive pathways toward careers in data center operations.
The program has already reached nearly 2,000 students across the Americas and Asia-Pacific during its pilot phase, and it will now expand globally with hands-on experiences, tours of IBX® data centers, and pathways toward internships and entry-level roles in the sector.
As part of the commemoration of International Data Center Day, the company welcomed hundreds of students during Education Days, held across 20 locations worldwide.

2026 global expansion.
In addition to the Pathways to Tech program, the company announced new global talent development initiatives. These include a coalition with Generation to train data center technicians, the expansion of internship and apprenticeship programs across multiple countries, and the launch of Learning Labs in Dallas, Paris, and Singapore, focused on hands-on training in critical infrastructure.
These initiatives will begin their global rollout in 2026 across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific, with the aim of strengthening the technical workforce and supporting the sustained growth of the digital economy.
