Digital creators move beyond single-product business models

Digital creators are moving beyond single-product businesses to build more diversified and sustainable revenue models.
Combining e-books, online courses, mentoring and private communities is reshaping monetization strategies across Colombia’s Creator Economy.
Selling a single product is no longer enough to sustain a digital business. An increasing number of content creators are building diversified portfolios to strengthen revenue, deepen audience relationships and create more resilient businesses.
The shift marks a new stage for Colombia’s Creator Economy. Rather than relying on a single offering, creators are developing monetization ecosystems that engage audiences at different stages of their journey while supporting long-term business growth.
Colombia has established itself as the leading source of digital creators within Hotmart’s Spanish-speaking Latin American ecosystem.
The market’s momentum has enabled more creators to expand their businesses domestically and internationally, reinforcing knowledge as one of the digital economy’s most valuable assets.
From products to portfolios.
One of the clearest signs of this transformation is the shift from standalone offerings to monetization ecosystems structured around different price points, levels of specialization and customer engagement.
Digital creators are building portfolios in which multiple formats play complementary roles within a single business strategy.
- Entry-level products (low cost)
E-books, templates, downloadable guides and other affordable digital products help attract new audiences by lowering the barrier to purchase.
- Core educational products (high scalability)
Online courses and structured training programs have become the primary growth engine.
According to research cited by Hotmart, this format is used by 88% of the highest-earning creators because of its ability to generate recurring revenue without significantly increasing production costs.
- Premium services (high value)
Personalized mentoring, group consulting and private communities are designed for users seeking more direct and specialized support.
”For many years, much of the digital economy depended on a single product or one-off brand collaborations. Today we are seeing a shift toward far more resilient business models, where creators build portfolios that support their audiences through different stages while generating more stable revenue. Our research shows that 34% of creators earning more than USD 250,000 annually already operate under this multiproduct model, demonstrating that diversification is becoming a key strategy for sustainable growth,” said Felipe Ángel, Sales Director for Latin America at Hotmart.
Exporting knowledge.
International expansion is also emerging as one of the most significant growth opportunities for Colombian digital creators.
Supported by digital infrastructure and the ability to distribute digital products without physical borders, more experts are monetizing their knowledge beyond the domestic market.
Today, nearly one in six sales generated by Colombian digital creators comes from international markets, primarily the United States.
This trend highlights the ability of Colombian talent to reach global audiences while underscoring the knowledge economy’s potential as a driver of future growth.
Technology as a growth enabler.
As these business models evolve, automation tools, sales recovery systems and artificial intelligence solutions are playing an increasingly strategic role in streamlining operations and improving business efficiency.
This enables digital creators to focus on developing valuable products, strengthening their communities and building more robust business models around their expertise.
