Agentic AI, the new frontier of Artificial Intelligence
With $8.2 billion invested, agentic AI is reshaping the future of technology. Dentsu Creative explores its evolution and applications across various industries.
Artificial intelligence has taken
a decisive step from simple virtual assistants to autonomous systems capable of performing complex tasks without human intervention.During the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), one of the most disruptive trends was the shift toward AI Agents, a new generation of artificial intelligence that can reason and act independently to achieve defined objectives.
Transition to AI Agents
Although the term “agentic” is relatively new, it began to be implemented in 2024, marking an evolution from traditional AI chatbots to the new AI agents. While chatbots focus on specific tasks and respond to user input, AI agents can make autonomous decisions to achieve predetermined results.
Development and Funding
In the past 12 months, startups focused on AI Agents have received a total investment of $8.2 billion, highlighting the growing interest and potential of this emerging technology. In this context, NVIDIA is developing Blueprints AI, a platform designed to simplify the creation of autonomous agents that learn and improve over time. These systems have applications ranging from customer service to home process automation.
Impact on Various Industries
Angélica Escrucería, CEO of Dentsu Creative, believes that:
”We are entering an era where AI not only answers questions but can anticipate needs and solve problems without human intervention. This represents a radical transformation for sectors like commerce, healthcare, and education.”.
The shift to agentic AI is focused on exploring deeper and more practical applications, moving beyond recreational uses. An example is Luci, a platform developed by OpenInterX that emphasizes privacy and context, allowing users to record over 4 hours of continuous video and audio, while addressing everyday concerns.
The New Era of Artificial Intelligence
According to Dentsu innovation leaders Michael Liu and Whitney Fishman, as AI agents evolve, brands will focus more on the utility and integration of AI into their products, rather than continuing to seek new applications or independent devices. This shift could transform how people discover products and interact with information.
It is expected that traditional search, driven by crawlers, will give way to “agentic” action engines. Escrucería states:
”All brands are integrating AI into various actions, however, many are sidelining its useful aspects. Agentic AI represents an evolution across industries that has not been fully realized; it could be a leap similar to the one the internet made at the end of the last century.”
Impact on Loneliness
As agentic AI consolidates, an increase in applications aimed at combating loneliness and fostering companionship is anticipated. According to Dentsu’s “Consumer Vision 2035” report, 56% of global respondents expect that by 2035, relationships with AI companions will be as fulfilling and rewarding as human relationships.
At CES, several humanoid robots and AI pets were showcased, though most of these devices still require constant instructions, limiting their ability for genuine interaction. Companies are focusing on improving the empathy of these devices to achieve a true sense of companionship.
The Future of Agentic AI
While the future points to agentic AI, Sarah Stringer, Global Head of Innovation at Dentsu Media, believes that most industries are five years away from having hardware capable of supporting this advanced technology.
Few companies can claim their devices are already using agentic AI, although many highlight being “AI-powered.”
According to experts in innovation, marketing, and advertising, the challenge lies in integrating these agents into everyday life and the business world without creating friction with people.
As agentic AI becomes more sophisticated, brands will need to implement strategies that maintain user trust and ensure ethical and transparent implementation.
